Welcome to my recipe blog,
I do hope you’ll enjoy sharing with me my great love of the simple everyday things in life that can bring such pleasure and satisfaction. Cooking tasty good food with passion and using seasonal ingredients when they are at their peak of freshness and flavour. Sowing seeds and planting out seedlings in the greenhouse and garden in the spring. Making jams, jellies and chutneys from the produce of our garden and from berries foraged on late summer country walks, growing flowers to cut, herbs and vegetables to eat throughout much of the year, foraging for chestnuts and wild mushrooms in the autumn, making hedgerow wreaths for Christmas and so much more.
My blog and Instagram are a year round diary of cooking, gardening, walking, foraging, craftwork and my love of simple, practical living embracing the seasons as they come and go.
A bit about me to set the scene;
I have lived in England’s southeastern corner, the Sussex High Weald all my life and have recently moved, not far, to a cosy 17th century farmhouse down a rural country lane with my husband, our two teenage daughters and three chickens.
I left a successful career in high street fashion to start a family in the 90’s, and over the years my passion for cooking became a vocation as I assisted in the running of a local gardening/cookery school and writing/testing recipes for cookbooks. I’ve also had a small business growing and selling cut flowers, and I started a seasonal internet business making and selling Christmas wreaths.
Our house is chock full of books on cookery, gardening, foraging, herbs, wildflowers and crafts. The kitchen is very definitely the beating heart of our home. I love to explore new ideas, new ingredients, writing new recipes and always try and include seasonal food foraged from the wild, picked from the garden and searching for usual and unusual honesty box produce found on my travels around the country lanes. Its all about the seasons, flavour and fragrance!
So, I hope you enjoy my recipe blog, do come back and visit when you can and please let me have your comments on anything and everything that I post, I welcome your views.
The recipes are my own – with a handful adapted from others. In the case of the latter, I will always detail who inspired me!
I take all the photos myself using my iPhone or my Canon EOS 60D and 40mm lens.
